How to survive summer heat - 10 tips for extreme temperature
This summer, the heat can often test your stamina and well-being, especially when temperatures rise above 35°C. If you're aged 30-60 and lead a very active life having lots of tasks to do, it's especially important for you to handle the heat well. Here are 10 useful tips to help you beat the heat and keep your energy up.
1. Hydrate regularly
Hydration is essential on hot days. Drink at least 2-3 litres of water a day and avoid sugary, alcoholic drinks that can dehydrate you.
2. Wear light, airy clothing
Light, light-coloured clothes reflect sunlight better and help regulate body temperature. Avoid tight, dark clothes that absorb heat more.
3. Look for cool places
Try to stay in shade or air-conditioned areas during the hottest hours. If you can, plan indoor activities for midday when the heat is most intense.
4. Use sunscreen
To protect your skin, always use a high factor sunscreen when you go outdoors. Not only will this protect against sunburn, it will also reduce the signs of skin ageing.
5. Eat light foods
In summer, instead of heavy, fatty foods, choose light, fresh foods such as salads, fruits and vegetables. These are not only nutritious, but also help you cool down.
6. Protect yourself against heatstroke
Watch out for symptoms of heatstroke, such as dizziness, headache, nausea. If you experience any of these symptoms, find a cool place to stay, drink plenty of fluids and rest immediately.
7. Cool down outside too
If you feel very hot, cool yourself down with a cold shower or use a cooling towel on your forehead and wrists. This can bring instant relief.
8. Rearrange your daily routine
Try to do outdoor activities early in the morning or late in the evening when the temperature is lower. This will help you avoid the hottest part of the day.
9. Breathe consciously
Conscious, deep breathing can help you relax and reduce the stress that heat can cause. Sit in a quiet place, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing for a few minutes.
10. Take time to relax
The heat can make you feel exhausted more easily, so it's important to get more rest in your day. Don't be shy about taking a nap in the afternoon if you feel the need and have the opportunity.
The summer heat can be a challenge for both body and mind, but with the right preparation and awareness, we can make the hottest days easier to bear. I hope these tips will help you stay energetic and fresh this summer and enjoy all the joys of the season!
